Default Rear windows won't roll up

I have a 95 Discovery. My wife rolled the windows down today and they won't go back up. I checked the fuse, it was fine. I hooked two wires to a rechargeable battery, then held it on the wire going into the door and rolled the windows up. Anybody have any suggestions as to what to check next?

I also noticed the rear windshield wiper will not operate now. I checked the fuse for this also. It was fine. Any suggestions on this also?

Thanks
Marty

It sounds like an earth fault, check all earth points around the the vehicle, the connections have a habit of becoming a lump of rust and falling off.

It is worth undoing all earth points you find and cleaning them up with sand paper, anyway while you are on, to help prevent other problems in the future.

Took circuit board out from behind glove box. Sure enough, bad solder points. Resoldered and now all is fine.

Rear wiper started working day after it stopped and hasn't stopped since.
