Rear wiper question?

Does the rear wiper suppose to swipe continuously or intermittently? I just noticed that it swipes 3 times than stops, than 1 time every few seconds?

Believe that's normal. When you first turn it on, it will clean the window, then it's basically just keeping up after that.

My '01 cycles one time when first energized "on". Then it swipes simultaneously w/ the front wipers.

Pretty much normal. It will also swipe when you are running the front wipers and you back up.

From the owners manual......

Rear window wash/wipe

Press and hold switch for the
required duration of window
washing. The wiper operates automatically
during washing and continues for a further 3
wipes after the switch is released.
Rear window wiper
Press to operate: after
continuously wiping 3 or 4 times,
the wiper operates intermittently until
switched off.
NOTE: When reverse gear is selected, the rear
wiper will operate (either continuously or
intermittently) in tandem with the front
wipers.
