Default Removed the headliner and seats in preperation for carpet cleaning.

Yesterday I removed the headliner due to itsagging.I also removed the seats in preperation to clean the carpet and seats. Before dropping the headliner I could tell it had gotten water stained in the right front corner. From reading the forum I thought my wet headliner was due to a cloged sunroof drain.

After dropping the headliner andto my surprise, the water leak was not due to a clog drain tube. It was due to a disconnected drain tube. From how the tip of the tube was so flat, I can only assume it has beendisconnected for a long.

The rest of the interior was pretty much what I expected. Dirty

This is something that's new for me. I never knew there were fuses and relays under the drivers seat. With four 30amp fuse, I assume these are for the two front power seats.

The plan now is to rent a mini industrial carpet cleaner and get busy on the carpet. I also will weigh the pros and cons of buying the headliner material and re-lining it myself. Or bring the board to an upholstery shop and let them do the re-line.The hard part is already done, all they have to do is spray and line.

Does anyone know where I can get headliner material that's specific to the Disco? The Disco backer board is highly contoured and trying to reline with regular flat meterial looks like it would be challenging.

I forgot pics of the headliner. The second pic was after using a stiff bristle brush to remove the residual foam.

Maybe you could wash the headliner material in a washing machine, then simply re-apply it using a spray contact adhesive

After looking at your pictures, I assume its or it looks like a D1, yet its fitted with a D2 steering wheel / cruise control switches. Its like a "mix" of a D1 and D2, maybe thats because of the Airbag rules in the US ?

Just never seen a D1 with that wheel fitted

Washing the original headliner is totally not an option. The OEM material is not the best quality stuff out there. Once the glue starts to seperate from the foam, it's a done deal. Fitting new material instead ofclean material would look 10x better.

Yes I have a D1

Think I would use some "acoustic" cloth that they use for stereo installs etc, you can either get the fabric stuff or the acoustic carpet, available in loads of colours and could be glued no probs with a spray adhesive

I was also looking for headliner material. I found www.landroverheadliner.com to have disco headliner material for around $240 if I remember correctly.

I put some time into the inteior today

I didn't know the carpet in these trucks come out so easy and in sections. The rear cargo, rear wheels wells andrear passenger carpets can be removed very easily. The front passenger carpet can be taken out if you cut the carpet in half. Cut it in halfat the shifter and under the HVAC ducting. That will allow you to seperate the front carpet without dissembling the shifter and HVAC duct work.

Once all the carpet was out, I was able to vacuum in all the nooks and cranny areas. A lot of **** can accumulate over 10 yrs. Coins, food, writing utensils, paper clips, unfortunately no paper money was found.

These LR have a lot of sound deadening material on the floors and cargo area. I took the time to lift up each corner of each sound deadening padfor a closer inspection and to vacuum. In the corner of each floor board did have some surface rust. Probably due to the disconected sunroof drain tube. The following pics looks worst than what it actually is. The plan is to scrub off the surface rust and apply a rust inhibitor like PORor simalar.

After pressure washing the carpets, I created a little abstract art for the neighborhod.

The carpet came out very good after the pressure wash. Of course I'll post the before and after pics when the interior is back together.
