Replacing front wheel bearing

Hi! Has anyone here had to replace a front wheel bearing? Mine front left has been needing replacing for a while. I've been checking parts online and I see wheel bearing kits for sale for around $50. However I called the LR Dealership to price the part and they said that there is no such kit and that the entire hub(??) must be replaced. The part is expensive- $750(CA). I would appreciate advice from anyone with this experience.
Thanks, Kerri

Unfortunatly, they are correct. But, aftermarket ones can be had for much cheaper. $320 @ rovahfarm.com,

I replaced my front right one with a used one on eBay. $50 and its been smooth for 2 years now. They are on eBay. You can also call Drillbit or Marty, he probably has plenty.

If your doing it yourself you need a 3 arm puller. Not a bad job 2/3 hours. Be gentle with the ABS sensor, its removed with a regular philips screw.

Really?

Doing the breaks and hubs now and the bearings are shot on at least one front hub on a 2001 DII. Are you all sure that the hub is not serviceable? The only way is to replace the whole hub?

Seems like you could extract and repress bearings? Not an expert here. Looking for an economical option.

Thanks

called Paul and bought a used hub from him. I'll be doing this over the coming weekend. 320 ft lb is crazy high. I have access to a 250 ft lb wrench. Guess I'll take it to that and a little extra for good measure!
