replacing plastic cooline lines with fuel lines?
 

So Ive replaced most of the plastic cooling lines with cheap rubber fuel hose I purchased from ACE True Value. While there I asked the rep about the temperature ratings for these hoses and he said they are rated for up to 200 degrees. My average engine tempatures are between 188-194 and thats awfully close to 200 degrees so Im wondering if these hoses are the best choice. Ive been using fuel hose for about a year now though I have not gone through and replaced every plastic pipe yet, rather I replace only the lines that have accidentally snapped. Some of my older fuel hose now appear to be slightly swollen and the texture on the surface has changed a little bit though there is no indication of failure yet.

The fuel hose I use have an inner circumference that is just big enough to fit the plastic line inside if forced in. Are the plastic lines suppose to be high pressure by any chance? What are you guys using to replace your old brittle plastic cooling lines?

Should be fine I have run fuel line. Currently I am running 1/4" pex with small heater hose sections connecting at each end.

Do you think you could take a couple pictures and show them here please? Very curious.

For the original question here is what I switched to instead of fuel line. I think it was 5/16" at least...

You used this for all the plastic cooling lines? Very interesting indeed. How long have you been using it? I see that its rated for up to 355 degrees and it does specifically say it can be used for cooling systems. Thanks very much. Im gonna swap out the fuel lines for this. Now how did you connect this hose to the reservoir and to the throttle body heater plate? Some kind of rubber extension hose?

Let me clarify that I used it to replace bad sections of the plastic crap. Once it warms up I plan to bend steel lines to replace the plastic and use the left over silicone hose to make the connections. I've been using it for a few months, I've been happy with it so far. I have ran it on the MG though for a few years now, in 1/2 inch size though for the heater lines.

I have the tubing bender and flaring tool so it should be a fairly cheap easy and permanent fix.
