Rotating tires

I bought a 2000 Discovery II two weeks ago. The front tires are pretty new. I am buying two identical tires this weekend. Should I rotate the older tires to the rear, or leave them on the front. Which axel gets more wear or is there a diffrence?

The front axle puts more wear on the tires because of turning. How much tread is left on the "pretty new" tires? I think I would put the current tires on the rear and the new ones on the front.

They all need to be the same size. I would replace all 4 at the same time and keep them rotated. Having the front or rear spin faster will load you transfer case. It would be like running 2 different sizes on the left and right. That said, it doesn't matter which axle you put them on (if they are really close). Just keep them rotated.
