Rotoflex eliminator
My roto flex is cracked and needs replaced. I was pretty set on doing the u-joint conversion but after reading some threads on here I may just replace it with another roto flex.
I have seen the conversions for around $350 but I am wondering if these parts would work? http://www.roverlandparts.com/1998-1...haft-rear.aspx 1998-1999 Discovery I Driveshaft - Rear - Your Price: $150.00 http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC3722.cfm Differential Flange Kit (4 Bolt) Item: STC3722 - Our Price: $82.95 Anyway, who has a good price on replacement rotoflex joints? |
Just go to Rover connection and buy another rotoflex, why do you need to replace it?
|
Yeah, those look like the parts you need.
If you stay with the rotoflex, don't cheap out on it. I've read quite a few people reporting the cheap ones shred quickly. |
Tom, you are right there, the cheap ones fail pretty quickly.
In the past Rover Connection has offered a factory replacement as well as 1 after market unit. I bought the factory one but know a number of people who purchased the after market one and it is a good one. I think the biggest issue is to install the new one facing the correct direction, I believe based on the directional arrows molded into the disc. |
The parts you listed will work, but as stated, a genuine Rotoflex will last you.

Any of these good?

So you ask a question, get lots of feed back to stay with a rotoflex and you didn't hear a thing we said.
Go do whatever you want. |
In my original post I said:
My roto flex is cracked and needs replaced. I was pretty set on doing the u-joint conversion but after reading some threads on here I may just replace it with another roto flex. So, the only thing I took from the replies (and thank you for the replies) is to keep the rotoflex and to buy the expensive one...thats my plan (keep the rotoflex) but the cheaper one at RC is good but the other cheap ones are junk... Ok, who makes the "cheap" one at RC? If it is allmakes you can get it cheaper from rovahfarm.... The parts in my last post were all rotoflex's..not conversion kits. To pinpoint it and eliminate confusion, what rotoflex joints are good and which ones are junk? Genuine Land Rover - Good Hardy Spicer - ??? Allmakes - ??? GKN/GNK - ??? Mystery RC $75 version - Good Thank you :) |
I would go with either the LR or the Spicer.

Rockauto has the flex coupler available (part #STC2794, with picture to confirm). For whatever reason, it is listed under the steering category.
