Rough Runnig / Check engine light
I have a 2000 LR Discovery 2 with ~140,000 miles (my first :) - I have had since Sept and I LOVE it!!). The check enging light would come on, she would run alittle rough then it would go off. The light is now on all the time, run fine until the light blinks - then runs rough, slow accelleration - then stops blinking and runs fine
We have changed the plugs, run seafoam - we have new wires, but we cannot get to the back to change them. We are thinking O2 sensor or catalytic converter - any thoughts?? |
Take it to Autozone and have the codes read, then we can help.
|
As Ralph mentioned, get the codes read. Also, are the wires original?

I hate to repeat what has already been mentioned twice.
Get the fault code numbers before you do any repairs or you are just guessing and that is not something you want to do with a Rover. |
Stop driving it now.
The check engine light flashing means that the catalytic convertors are being destroyed by unburned gasoline. The check engine light flashing is saying "Emissions systems damage taking place" You keep driving it like that - the catalytic convertors will super heat maybe and melt all things around them. You will ruin the catalytic converters. Stop driving it. It was sold - for a reason. Now you know the reason. |
I got the codes checked..it state multi-misfire 13457
P1300, PO3008 or B, PO301B, PO303, PO304B, PO305B, PO307 |

P1300, PO3008 or B, PO301B, PO303, PO304B, PO305B, PO307 0=industry standard 1=manufacturer specific You shouldn't have p03008, that's too many digits. I'm guessing its p0308, misfire on cylinder 8. |

I really appreciate all of everyone's input!! I have always wanted a Rover and I finally have one and I love it and I want it to last forever :) |

Also be sure to replace plugs at the same time.
