Default Runs a little rough

Just resurected the Disco, and runs a little rough thru 2300-2800 RPM most noticable under acceleration and higher gears.

Had all the plugs and wires out when dealing with the oil prime issue. Used marvel in the cylinders while dry cranking (fuel pump relay pulled and coil pack unplugged). Smoked like heck on initial start. Think I might have fouled a plug or damaged a plug wire (about 20k on them).
No lights on, and smooth idle @7-800RPM.

About 1/4 tank of the gas sat for about 6mos. Treated with seafoam and premium.

Start at the plugs?
When I replaced the wires I got them from dealer (not too bad). AutoBlone...Zone has a set of Durilast and Bosh. Should I wait? 122K on 96 DI.

Get rid of that old gas, put in a new fuel filter, if you can find a can of B&G's 44K put it in the gas tank and go drive it hard. As for plug wires, Magnacor 8mm wires are really the only wires you should use.

I agree with Mike. Don't buy anything but Magnacors. I got the crappy ones from Autozone and they barely last a year. I love my Magnacors and am kicking myself for not getting them sooner.

Who typically sells magnacore...nobody in Wichita KS...Might get a cheap set and use till the mags get in. Seems worse tonight with some power lossat highway speeds. It is cold and very humid. Hope this is not a sign of a troubled or failing coil pack.

I had very similar symptoms, I just bought a set of wires through the LRR store, they arrived in 3 days, and I finished the job this afternoon. I opted not to remove the plenum, and do it over the back of the engine instead. I'm glad I did, it went pretty well. Running great now! Don't bother with cheap ones, you don't want to do the job twice.

Changed plugs first, NKG's. Runs perfect!! As I suspected I fouled a plug with the the marvel mystery oil I used to lube the cylinders while dry motoring... Easy enough!!

Several people have told me to stay away from NGK's on a Rover engine. I've not tried them on mine yet for that reason. I swear by them on Japanese cars though. When I used to have Japanese m/cycles I had Champion spark plugs failing all the time. The NGK's never failed. I think bosch +4's are the plug of choice on this forum? I'll be trying the Bocsh's on my next plug & wire change/upgrade.
