safari rack

So toying with the idea of personalizing my '03 disco and getting a safari rack. However, I still want to park my DISCO in my garage. I've got an 84 inch clearance into the garage (7 feet), and the disco sits right about 78". The spread between the two numbers is 5 inches +/-. Will I clip my garage door entrance if I get a safari rack? What additional parts if any will I need to purchase if I get the safari rack?

Thanks,
Rob

Yes, especially down the road when you replace your warn out shocks and springs that will raise you back up to factory height of an additional 1.5 to 2,0"s.

If you're referring to the Safety Devices rack, it adds at least 8", I believe more.

It also adds about 1.0 to 1.5 more MPG.

Subtracts! And when you decide you need huge rally lights up there, it's even worse.

Had the same issue. In laws condo has underground parking, 7' clearance. I still wanted lights and storage so I went a different route:

This setup keeps me at 81 inches, and the $110 - 44" universal basket off ebay left plenty of room for the LED bar compared to the price of the Safety Devices racks..

Hey caymandrew.

Thanks for the info.

Nice ride. How do you like your LED bar? How does it compare to some hellas? Maybe not as bright, but I'm not in Aussie Land in the outback either where I really would need some lights because it is so dark there. So again, more cosmetic and looking cool than really functional. Also, where did you get the light bar and how did you set it up?

The top light bar is 15,000 lumens, the 13.5" on the brush guard is 6000 lumens. If I recall correctly the 40w "Xenon" (HID) Hella 4000's claim 3225 lumens.

So yes, the LED lights SUPER BRIGHT. I guess the equivalent of 6 and a half Hella 4000 HID's.

These are some crappy iphone photos I took the evening I installed them, they really don't do them much justice but I haven't got out at night on any trails to get good pictures:

Regular headlights:

Both light on:

Sweet!

Couldn't find the 44" basket on ebay. Maybe your search skills are better and can post a link here for me? Also, the roof light bar.

Thanks,
Rob
