Safety Device Safari Roof Rack
 

Hi, I searched the forums and also Google but I cannot find the answer. Does anyone know if a Safety Device Safari roof rack built for a Discovery 1 fit a Discovery 2? I know that the Series 1 is a bit shorter that a Series 2 and I was wondering if I purchased a Safety Device Safari roof rack made for a Series 1 what kind of problems I can or will encounter if I installed it into a Series 2. Thanks.

Yes, it will. It will just be short at the rear.

Just an FYI, Safety Devices has been talking about doing another run of D1+D2 racks with enough demand...

I use a DII rack on my D1, and as the DII is longer by 4/6 inches at rear. The rack for a D1 will be that much shorter.

Both ways they look ok

I e-mailed Safety Designs w/ that very question. Here is there response:

The roof rack for the Discovery 1 (RRL104 0RRA) would be the same width as the Discovery 2 but it is shorter length than the Discovery 2 so there would be a 15-20 cm gap between the end of the roof rack and the end of the car.

So 15-20cm is around 6 - 7 1/2 inches...
