SAI blanks

Rebuilding my motor. Broke some of the SAI hardlines and while I'm waiting I'd like to plug the holes and run the motor. At least to get it out of the shop. Maybe more long term solution.

Anyone know of a suitable blank for the exhaust ports?

Also it'll just throw a SeS for the air pump correct? So voltage drop/resistance should fool the ECM?

Also any recommendations on a computer that can rewrite a Rover? My Snap on tool only does 2012 and newer Rovers.

Thanks and thanks

Take those brass caps that screw on the top. JB weld nickels into them then screw them on.

That's some handy stuff right there haha. Thought about cutting them in half and welding them shut. Wanted to save these for some other projects.

Yeah, welding them saves you 20 cents, and that makes sense, since there's no sense putting another 20 cents into these things...lol.

Actually, I welded flat washers on my 01 and put nickels in the 03.

Did you just live with the check engine light?

zuke 12-13-2018 12:10 PM

I was clearing it. It comes on after about 8 starts. Now I just dont care. I might swap out ECU/BCU/Gauges someday.

I just disabled the check engine light, black tape inside dash light cavity. You'll get codes 1412, 1415 all the time, so l just knocked out the light. Just read the codes every so often or when l feel there's a problem...and clear them or repair as needed (all except the SAI codes naturally).

I welded mine shut and dealt with the codes the same way Brian did; black tape inside the instrument cluster.

We need someone to make an ECU tune that disables the SAI and also the post cat O2s!

Not sure, but l believe l've read on here that you can search for a none SAI engine ECM and change it out. And this will eliminate SAI codes from appearing. If l were ever going to sell the 03, this would probably be my course of action (and repairing check engine light). The 01 is going to "meet its maker", so to speak, when all is said and done.

Brian.
