schematics for disco II bumper

I work for a school system and our high school welding teacher said that making a bumper for my 2000 disco would be a great project. I showed him a picture of what I liked but he said schematics would be great if we could get one.

I will try tonight to get something posted online and linked as I have a few pictures but it will not be off road, other than my yard or a field :) I will also not be putting a winch on it. Mine does have the fog lights if that can be incorporated back in. Replacing the plastic bumper that was broken by the previous owner when run off the road.

So, anyone have any drawings or schematics for ones they have done?

Pull off your bumper and measure it.
Start with a good model of what you have and alter it.

This is what I built for my bumper. I used 3/16th plate for the entire thing. The extension that come out of the frame rails are box 1/4" cold roll steel that I ordered from my local metal supply that were very close to the inside dimensions to the frame so it fits very snug. You will have to trash the crunch cans behind the bumper if you want to ever mount a winch on it without it ripping the bumper off. Personally I preferred building the entire bumper while it was on the vehicle.

And remember to properly weld any recovery points. If you have any questions or need any more pictures please message me or ask! Don't learn the hard way about bad design or welding!
