Default Secondary Air

I had a weird thing happen this weekend. My SAI pump was making noise when I revved the engine. I took a look and found 3 of the six rivets holding the housing together were broke and letting air out. I pulled the pump to fix it and drove the truck to town just to see what would happen. I expected a dash light and maybe a few codes to show up.

Nothing happened. No codes. No dash light. Does anybody know of any good reason not to just rip the rest of that junk out?

I feel like I should sacrifice a chicken to the Rover God.

Secondary Air Injection works on vehicle startup when catalytic converter temps are under a certain amount. It also takes a certain amount of drive cycles for the CEL to trip on.

You are on borrowed time. The light will come one sooner or later.

Check with Paul Grant for a used one: paulgrant@mac.com
He has never failed me.
You will need to do all sorts of stuff to the car to keep the CEL off if you pull the SAI. Check with Paul first.

I had a pump with bad rivets, I just used some small screws and lock nuts. Problem solved.
