Question Secondary Air stopped working

So about three weeks ago I was stopped at a traffic light, the SAI kicked in, and the check engine light came on.
Codes were p1412 & p1415. Drove it for about a week, check engine light went out.
The SAI stopped coming on in the morning, but would still come on when I'd leave work.
It's been a bit colder here lately, and now the SAI does not come on at all.

I cleared the stored codes about two weeks ago and have had none since, I have noticed however I seem to be getting some exhaust noise more than normal.

I'm suspecting the SAI pump has crapped out. Is it doing any harm by not working?
Since I'm not currently throwing any codes, I'm wondering if I will have any trouble getting through my emissions inspection next month.

Take iot to a shop and let them fix it if you can't.

I'm just wondering do I have to fix it.
If I get past the emissions test, should I bother?

I wouldn't imagine you'd get past emissions if it wasn't working. If so, then whatevs!

I don't have any codes, nothing stored, nothing pending, maybe I'll get lucky.

If really cold my sai does not come on.
If moderately cold - it will come on in the morning and
when I leave work.

And I have had it go on in traffic - in Denver area only.
Never in California.

If your pump is broken, get one from a junk yard or from ebay.

If your check engine lite is on, you'll never get thru emissions.
Check engine must be OFF for some number of miles for emissions stations to even
test it with a pass.

So tonight when I started it up after leaving work the SAI decided to kick in. It has not come on in at least a week. Outside temperature was 41, and thats been pretty average here for the past few weeks. Anyhow, the pump seemed loud I think, so when I pulled into the parking lot at the grocery store I did a scan with my scangauge, had two pending codes, p1412 and p1415, same as before. Went ahead and force cleared them out.
I'm hoping it might be the solenoid, I have a new on sitting around so perhaps I'll put that in this weekend and see what happens. But I am still thinking the pump is going bad.

I have the same sorts of issues with my secondary air. I have recently replaced the solenoid, quick strapped all the hoses at the connections to help ensure they are more air tight.

I am going to take the pump off so I can replace the air filter and to also drill out the rivets holding the unit together and replace them with nuts and bolts. I have read that the rivets stretch over time which can affect the operation of the pump.

Of course I am hoping this will help as I can't see any other issues with the hoses / lines. If it doesn't help then i'll probably be buying a new secondary air pump.

Oh and get your solenoid changed, it only takes 5 minutes!

The SAI pump shouldn't run unless the outside air temp is above 45F and the engine coolant is under 130. Mine goes for months without running in the winter, but the ECU will perform a passive test that will yield the codes you have. It does so by starting the pump, opening the valves, and then monitoring the oxygen sensors for change. If no change is noted, it issues the fault, suggesting the air flow is low. My experience has been a disconnected vacuum line on the valve.

Don't pay attention to it.
Unless your check engine light is on.
Don't worry if you don't have to.
