Slightly off topic... need advice on a good grease gun
 

Need some advice on a good grease gun. Seen lots of cheap ones but preferably I would like to get one that lasts... Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask

Any recommendations?

The new style are junk... find a old one from a farmer the has been working for the last 30 years it will probably last another 30.

I'm no expert on them but I just got the one that you typically see at walmart and autozone and it's still working fine. I only use it every couple of months so I just store it in my tool box.

I got mine while still in high school, that was a long time ago...go to the farm supply store and buy one, no need to spend 80million bucks, $10-15 will do it, also buy the flexible hose to go with it and replace the ridged part that normally comes on the gun, it makes it easier to grease u-joints that are not facing in the correct direction when greasing.
Just make sure it is the standard cartridge sized one so you can buy grease anywhere.
While you are there look for Green Grease, it is a farm implement grease, full synthetic, thats what I use, its about $8 a tube and for a normal person it should last at least a year.
You do not have to use it, but it is a good grease and I like it.
Buy whatever you want, thats what I recommend.

Damn! Now, you tell me... I've been jacking the car and moving the tires to get to them. Man. This would save me tons of time, because i can slide right under there with no jack.

I picked up a clearance pneumatic craftsman for $20. added a flexible hose and it works well. oh, and if it breaks, i'll just exchange it.

I hear that, the only benefit of buying Craftsman stuff, lol.

I bought a grease gun at Autozone in Ogden, UT when I was on a trip with the Rover.
It had a stiff delivery nozzle.
Seems to fit the nipples on the drive shafts just fine.
You need to goose around forward and backward to get the nipple at the right angle but the gun works fine for $13 or so.
When I was done with it, I put the gun back in the box and stored it in the back of the Rover.
Looks like some grease has leaked out of the gun as it is showing thru the box now.

If you have the flexible hose you dont need to mess around with moving the truck forward or back so you can reach the grease fittings.
