SLS light remains on- Post Rear Spring Conversion
Guys,
The 99 that I purchased last month and have been tinkering with all month has one thing that I can not figure out. This Disco originally had rear bags. The previous owner opted to swap in a rear spring kit in lieu of new bags when needed. The previous owner shared why they did this and also shared that they could never get the SLS light to shut off after the installation of the springs. I have the full 850 page service manual for this unit, but there is no mention of how to shut off the SLS light after the bag/spring swap. Any thoughts on this? Also, do I need to confirm or do anything with the air compressor? I do not hear it run ever, but I am wondering if there is anything that is needed. Thanks in advance for your help. DM |
RE: SLS light remains on- Post Rear Spring Conversion
The SLS light is on brcause the old owner didn't take the truck to the dealer to have the system shut off thru the ECU. Too bad he replaced the air bags, it reallt is a good system, I have nearly 90,000 miles on my 99 and other then recently replacing the bags cause of old age leaks, I have never had a problem with it.

Thanks Mike. Is the dealership the only place that can touch the ECU? It is not as easy as clearing the fault code correct? The only reason that I ask if you recall I purchased a real nice scan tool that clears codes a couple of weeks ago and I am just wondering if that would do it.
Do you happen to know how difficult the process is to refit the air bags back onto this unit? Thanks again. |

Why don't you send me your tele number and I'll call you so we can talk about what is left of the old system.
