Wouldnt it just be easier to buy a Jeep Liberty with the CDI?

I have never seen one of those before. It looks interesting but a little low on creature comforts.

I have a 69 Nissan Patrol. There isn't much to them. It has a 4.0 inline sixwith 145hp at 3800rpms235 ft.lb. torque at 2000rpms, 3sp. stick, twin stick transfer, 4:10 gears. It's definitly not fast on the road, but has a great offroading engine. The engine was also used in a big forklift.

Isn't the 4inline six the same engine in all the >2005 jeeps (w/4.0)? Pretty sure that is the engine in my friends 05 rubi.

Oh okay. I'm really liking the VW Touareg 2. Awesome car. I would buy it over the LR3... referring to post 12

Here is something that has not been mentioned yet...if you use a Dodge t-case you will need new axles, the propeller shafts will not line up.
LR puts their diffs in line with one another not off set like domestics.
Both diffs are on the passenger side while on domestics the rear is in the center of the axle and the front is on the drivers side.
SO a t-case other than a LR one will NOT work without new axles.

i think it would be easyer and less time to import a TDI from the uk. sure it might cost more then DIY, but it will be done right, and you wont have to spend all that time.

and, everything mechanical on disco's is preatty much set to euro standards. (right hand drive). this causes alot of problems with the axels and transfer case trying to do a conversion.
