Default Possessed Horn

Last night at 5am my 03' Discovery's horn started to blow. It was like someone was sitting in it holding down the horn. It was a long consistent sound, not like the alarm. The key clicker wouldnt turn it off. But when i got in,I tried honking the horn, it would turn off for a second then start back up. It took me hitting the horn about 10 times for it to stop. Then every time you touch the steering wheel anywhere on it the horn would blow. To temporarily fix the problem i took the fuse out for the horn.

Has anyone ever heard of or seen this problem before. I plan on going to the dealer but would like to go in with some knowledge.

sounds like the contact plate in the steering wheel has become loose and it making a constant completed circuit

never heard of it on a rover but have seen the problem on a porsche...

should be an easy fix but not sure how to take the face off the wheel

my '99 DII did the exact same thing, if yours is the same, on the back of the plastic horn buttons (which snaps out, but be careful) there is a wire connected to a metal plate, when pushed makes contact with another plate on the steering wheel itself. To make a long story short, the wire in mine came loose from the button and was laying on the metal plate on the wheel, therefore making the horn blow. Hope this helps.
