Default Sounds like an exhaust leak

I was driving freeway speed and all of the sudden the car sounded rougher than usual. I pulled off the exit and there was a wall so I could hear a considerable resonation. Sounds like an exhaust leak. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger side of the engine under the intake manifold. Ultra guage shows no difference in performance even after a few drives around.

Any ideas?

Is there any tendency to crack manifolds? Haven't been off road with it in a few months. I dont have time to look at it so I am thinking of taking it somewhere and have it diagnosed.

Just looking for a little direction or thoughts, thanks.

Do you mean under the exhaust manifold? I had to have mine re-welded where the flange joins the downpipe. It had cracked half-way around. Glad they could repair it on the vehicle because the part is huge and contains both cats

I think the P.O. thought the engine was on its way out

I'm new to these, but my bolts were loose at the flange. one was missing. i honestly expect that they were never installed right after the head gaskets. you might check the gasket at the flange.. just a thought, because I have test driven about ten rovers lately, half had a bad leak or bad gasket, not sure each individual case, but clearly that joint was the problem..

Two bolts were actually missing and the third was stripped! Thanks for pointing in the right direction.
