gave up on the stock head unit

Default gave up on the stock head unit

couldnt get i working i lost power in the radio harness how do i run a new power to the new aftermarket head unit i wired all of the unit but still no power so i want to run a new wire from the battery do i need to put a fuse on the line or just straight from the battery to the head unit the new head unit is a kenwood thanks for the help

ok i got the unit to power on radio works but no sound from the cd player or my ipod connection i can control the ipod from the head unit but no sound please help me out

I hate to say it but I always leave this kind of thing to the pros.
I bought my headunit from Best Buy and let them install it.
Installation was free all I had to pay for was the wire harness.

ya spike the only problem it 150 miles to the closest best buy or anything else so waste the gas or figure it out myself

Yes you need a fuse inline between the battery and the radio. You need to find a switched source to pull power from for your radio or you risk leaving the radio on and killing the battery.

Are you getting sound at all or just not from the sources you mentioned? If the tuner is working then the problem is inside your head unit. If no sound at all you need to use a converter to convert your speaker outputs to a signal the factory amps can use. Crutchfield sells the converter for about $30.
