SRS light problem

So heres the deal. The light comes on and then will go off. First time it came on I unplugged the srs fuse and it went out. Second time it was out for about 230 miles since reset and came on for about 50 miles and went out on its own. Anyone know what gives??
Thanks.

RE: SRS light problem

The SRS light can be triggered from multiple sources. One common one is the seatbelt sensor(s)--- the drivers seat mechanism usually gets the most use, so is the more likely culprit. Secondly--- there is a "Clock spring" behind the steering wheel that can throw the error code. You also have accelerometers on the vehicle to sense G-loads in the event of a accident--- these usually don't fail, but check the connectors. And last--- the SRS control module can develop a internal fault. Unfortunately, it is difficult for the owner to diagnose and correct this problem. A shop with a Rovacom or Autologic scanner is your best bet.

P.S. If the vehicle was ever in a previous accident that resulted in a airbag deployment, the situation gets sticky!

Thanks for the input. I'll check the seatbelt first. The light is just so random comes and goes, but it seems to come on more when I'm at a half tank of fuel or less.

got a similar random error but to me it seems temperature related (I am in the Middle East)

Temp is usually not a cause for an SRS fault.
