stiff suspension or is it just me?
 

i thought that LRs are supposed to be the perfect cross between class and capability.
while driving over even the slightest bumps and cracks on the road, my whole D2 while shake and rattle. the suspension seems to be a little to stiff to me but this is the my first SUV. im not sure if something needs to be replaced or what but when i drive my friends wrangler or cherokee i feel a lot less bumps and jumps.

Do you have ACE or air suspension? What tires do you have and what ply are they and what PSI are they at?

Overinflated tires would be the first place I'd look too.

MY DISCO 1 is very smooth on interstate type highways even with imperfect pavement. It is almost as smooth as my 99 Caddilac. I have spring suspension, not air.

Having ACE wont make any difference to the "bumpy" ride, ACE is only relevant when your throwing it around bends ;).

From my experience and from driving my friends cars, cars with air seem a little more "jumpy" than cars with coils on the rear imo, but it seems far more sure footedround the bends.

My thinking is that if he has air ride that the air bags are over inflated thus giving him a stiff ride. Wasnt to sure about the ACE system though, I thought it only affected cornering and not cruising.

Are you still running the stock suspension, if so that is your problem, it is shot and should be replaced.

Hi Viper,

Since you say you have an SE, not an SE7, I will assume you don't have air springs. I have the same year and mileage. I just replaced the shocks, springs and steering stabilizer. It makes a world of difference. My original suspension was just beat. I used all OME stuff, and the biggest differece I felt was with the steering stabilizer. When I went over bumps, etc., it didn't get as wild as it used to. But when I replaced the shocks and springs, the ride was once again awesome. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do it all yourself in a few hours. Let me know if you need any info, I just went through this.

another thing would be the rim size. i have 18s and think that the lack of sidewalls make it stiffer than other suv's or trucks that might have 16s
