Strange?

It amazingly has been raining for 3 days non-stop her in California. Yesterday I took the Disco to Home Depot, then the market and ran into some deep water that flooded various streets around my neighborhood. The disco went right thru them with no problem and not one hint of stalling!

Today, I turned her on in the morning while getting ready to leave to work and I put her in reverse and nothing hapens. I put her back in park and them back in reverse and nothing happens. I'm like what the ****??? I turn off the truck and back on and put her in reverse again and I make sure that my hand brake was not engaged and i give it a little gas and it feels like Im stuck on something. I get out to make sure that no one is playing a game on me by putting some bricks on the back of my tires, but there is nothing. I get back in the truck and put her in reserse one more time and give it some gas, then suddenly she makes a popping sound and goes in reverse! I was like WTF???

I switch through all the gears and she's responding normaly. I drove her in to work and ran perfectly. I hope this is not the beggining of something horrible.:(

When you put it in reverse, did it sound like it was in gear?

Mite of been your brakes rusted up over night if you were traveling through a lot of deep water and they were still wet when you parked it.

Great, I just went out for lunch and now the "Service Engine Soon" light is on. The truck is a little shaky too like if it wants to turn off. Do you think all this wetness is affecting it? Maybe some sensors got wet? To top it off, it has not stopped raining since last thursday night.

I think my brakes were stuck, makes sense. Now I have the issue with the light. Hope you guys can point me int he right direction. Oh and I do all my own work on my truck!

have you done your headgaskets yet? get the codes read and get back to us with the 4 digit codes. if the CEL light starts blinking you better stop driving it and keep an eye on the temp guage just in case.

Don't make us guess, go get the codes read at your local parts store and get back to us with the fault code numbers. Are you still running the factory grey plug wires?

tito5590805 12-20-2010 03:51 PM

I'll definitely get the codes read today after work.

As my signature reads, I have done Mike's 60K major service, and plugs and wires were part of it at around 55K, now I have 61K. I'll post the codes up later today.

Thanks for the help guys.

Just an update

The "Service Engine Soon" light went off when the rain stopped last week! The truck has been running perfectly fine since the light went off. Any ideas? Should I still go get the codes read?

hilltoppersx 01-03-2011 11:52 AM

you might have codes stored.
