Stumped about no start

You say it fired briefly with starting fluid but then died. I get that, but you really do need to check for spark. In a huge percentage of cases like this the problem is the crankshaft position sensor. I can't tell you how many cases I've read on these forums the last several years of owners buying a fuel pump and going to the trouble of replacing it when it was just the crankshaft position sensor.
That said, it is also true that in many cases the crankshaft position sensor will be a problem only when the truck is warm so if you can't start it stone cold perhaps it is something else.
I hope for your sake it's not like the case of another fellow on these forums who had similar symptoms a couple weeks ago and ended up finding that the timing chain was broken.

Who would have thought you bought to bad fuel pumps. What kind was the last one you bought?
