Sunroof glass seal replacement
I just got done resealing my sunroofs with the kit from steveparkers. Now I am having a problem with the sunroof glass not closing correctly. I've checked to make sure the seal is seated fully into the channel.
The glass seal provided is EEQ500010-BP, it is thicker and a different shape than the old (I'd assume factory seal), the top lip rolls inward on the new one and outwards on the old. When the glass comes forward to close it 'crashes' into the seal pushing it forward until the motor stops. Then it won't pull the glass down until I use a plastic panel popper to push the seal down under the edge of the glass. Finally the glass isn't pulled down flush and the catches on the tracks don't seem to engage fully. Can anyone help? https://www.steveparkers.com/product...be-repair-kit/ https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...4906924a37.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...bf0d9f9c9b.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...26771532ce.jpg |

I had the same issue with the Britpart seals. I replaced my rear seal proactively and the diameter was a bit too small, and once installed, a bit too tall. Not so much so that the window grabbed the seal as you described, but almost too tall for the rear latches to grab.
Overall it did not work very well. I ended up going back to my original and all is good now. Now that I look at your pic again, it looks inside out to me. Mine did not fit well, but the sealing lip was still angled to the outside just like the original. |

How did you end up ordering these? I currently have my headliner out and have two broken drain tube spouts. Would love to replace these with this kit. Their site doesn't give the option of US shipping.

If anyone searches and finds this thread (as I did today) -- I had the exact same problem today w/ Britpart sunroof seals on my D2.
One was fine. On the other, this same issue as post #1 above. The seal caught the front of the sunroof glass when closing. Indeed, the seal was somehow "inside-out." I wouldn't think as a continuous loop this was possible, but alas, I was wrong. I flipped it around / reinstalled after reading this thread, and it was in the correct orientation. So maybe that helps someone. Took me several hours to figure out what was going on! |
Maybe we need a sticky with links to threads solving problems, as most any problem has been encountered by someone on this board, but it is not always easy to find.

I'm going to be replacing my seals in the near future so I'm glad this thread was revived.
