Superlocked out of a Discovery II

I've been locked out twice now in the last 2 years due to the failure of the pot metal lock actuator rod. I see there is a steel aftermarket replacement available, and the site that sells it indicates the failure occurs from using a key manually instead of the electronic button. Does that mean you are safe from failure if you only use the button, or do I need to order the steel part and replace it to make sure it doesn't happen again? Thanks!

"the site that sells it indicates the failure occurs from using a key manually instead of the electronic button."

Just don't use superlock.
I used it just to show a buyer that it existed.

Yeah it is cool.
Anything is cool. Until it fails.

seriously, i never use my remote.
there should be a post where someone made a replacement out of a nail with some minor grinding, which im sure is much stronger.

See this. This is my thread from another forum 4+ years ago. Still working great, and I doubt the steel will ever break, unlike the pot metal original.

Thanks for the help!

My poorly worded question was answered, and thanks to all who replied. I will try the nail method on my 99 Disco II as it currently has a broken actuator rod, but I will leave my 04 Disco alone since I have two good electronic keys that I can rotate out. I should not need to open it manually unless I'm out somewhere and the remote battery dies. Even then, it will only be occcasionally now that I know what the problem is. Best regards to all, Mark
