Default Suspension and Weather

I've been having a suspension issue in the back of my 00 Disco SII for a long time now. The rear usually stays low, and often the passenger side drops all the way -- the wheel is just short of hitting the well. It will occasionally right itself when the compressor kicks on, but more often than not it stays down. Makes for a bouncy ride!

I've pretty much narrowed it down to a bag leak, sensor malfunction, or a weak compressor. Could be a combination. SLS sometimes fixes the problem, but only if the compressor decides to kick on. And even then it doesn't stay up for very long.

Here's the kicker; it only drops like this during really cold weather.

Any insight?

Please let me know if you solve this as I'm having the EXACT same issue on my 03.

I do however notice that it doesn't "leak down" if I raise the suspension...I've had it sitting for a few days and no leak down at all.

Check the airspring for leaks. Use the soapy water test, but the kicker is you have to take the spring off the truck to check. When I had the same problem I couldn't see the pin holes until I took it off. Not to hard to remove do a search for the how to.
Cheers

the bags may develop cracking @ the point where the bag rolls most often.

To some extent, if you inflate fully, the cracks will seal.

Soap test is best, soaping the connections is a given.

Based on my exp with my RR.

The best fix is a coil spring conversion. That will eliminate any airbag issues you have. Its not cheap but may be cheaper in the long run.

This can be pretty common especially on older bags of 80,000 plus miles.
I have seen only a few instances where a bag might drop when really cold and it was a issue that was easily corrected thru the ECU.
Having bad the same problem, I would suggest new Arnott Industries replacement bags, which are easy to install.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. As for the conversion, it looks like it would actually be a moderately cheaper alternative. I planned on replacing both rear bags, so doing a kit would save me about $20 upfront and spare me the potential for more leaks, compressor issues, etc, in the long long run. Not sure how much more install time it'll need with a conversion though. I don't have ability to run diagnostics... how would I turn off the SLS after converting to springs?

Appreciate it!
