Swapping CD Changer for iPhone/Aux.

I am looking to swap out my CD Changer unit for one of these:

ROVER LANDROVER 99-05 AUX-IN Android iPod Bluetooth Adapter

Has anyone used one of these and if so how is it?

I have seen that I can have my head unit modified to have an Aux port, but this has the option for blue tooth and USB charging. That and I don't like other guys touching my Landie :D.

I might go ahead and order one of these with the blue tooth piece. They offer 30 day money back, so it's worth a shot.

That seems like a decent price. I tried a similiar unit from ebay to allow iPod connectivity through the CD changer, but it did not function at all. They took it back, and I ended up putting in an Alpine head unit that I had from a prior car. I would have liked to have left the stock head unit in, but at least now I can add a sub easily...

Let us know if this works or not.

Literally just (as in 5 minutes ago) bought the same unit. I'll post again after the installation.

Anyone ever see the iPod cable ran somewhere OTHER than the glovebox? I have a crude plan to drop an OEM Apple iPhone 4 dock into the ash tray (after substantial Dremmling, no doubt). This way, the iPod/iPhone is still readily accessible to grab-and-go if the situation calls for it. I've rigged a similar "convertible ash tray" in my M3, and I couldn't be happier. Looks factory, is within arms reach and closes up just like it does from the factory. I'll document my progress, just in case.

Anyone have a good link for the radio removal tools?

whall85, maybe try running it through the centre console? I think it might be easier.

Edit: I know Atlantic British have the radio removal tools.

I gathered most of my "inspiration" from this thread:

Instead of routing the iPod cable all the way to the glovebox like jmt did, I figure I'll feed it out through the back of the ashtray and into the 30-pin connector on the backside of the Apple dock. Like so:

If this idea fails, I'll probably just resort to putting the iPod plug in the glovebox.

I am considering taking it up through the dash near the hill decent control button so that you can mount your phone on on the dash (I have an Android). That way I have an easy to access entertainment/GPS system.

Let's just take this one step further.
In-Dash iPad - YouTube

I do not believe there is enough room for an ipad. It would be great if it could work in a rover though.

:D

I'm sure with the right amount of money, anything is possible!

Here are a few shots of the iPod in my M3. This is the same kind of idea I'm going to apply to the Rover:

Not for an ipad no, however what about a 7 inch Galaxy tab:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3G with 16GB Storage Memory BBSPHP1TAB
