Switching out rear suspension on '00 Disco ii
I've seen 3 different kits to convert the rear air suspension to conventional springs.
2 kits included hardware for the rear suspension only (2 springs, 2 mounts). 1 kit included hardware for all 4 corners (4 springs, 4 mounts). My question is this: Is it necessary to replace the springs on all 4 corners, or will one of the 2 spring kits suffice? Thanks for any advice! |

some Disco II's do.
i dont really know, but i supose it depends on if it has coil springs up front. if so, you probably dont have to worry about changing those out. but if they're bagged up front, why only get the job half done? |

FINALLY! heheh...

Perhaps you have a good reason for changing the air suspension to springs, but I just replaced one of my rear air springs on my 2000 Disco II. It was inexpensive (relatively) and easy. I found an aftermarket company that makes the air springs www.arnottindustries.com. One new replacement air spring with a lifetime warranty cost $207.00 including shipping cost to Atlanta, GA (the company is in FL). The job took half an hour after I got my lug nuts unstuck. Drives like new now.

i saw that link in another thread...the price is just a lil too steep for me b/c i'm not sure if that's the problem or not. i have read that the rear air suspensions can be a nightmare to deal with, so i'd rather convert it over to rear springs and take a one time hit of a few hunderd dollars hopefully fixing this money pit of a vehicle for a while.
this place has a conversion kit as well as replacement bellows for around $20 less than arnott industries: http://www.strutmasters.com/land-rover/index.htm |
RE: Switching out rear suspension on '00 Disco ii
you can change the springs to air, but you gotta make sure you turn the air suspension in the computer, if you got a lift it will take about a hr, did one the other day, but they have a tendency to blow out so good luck... if you need and help contact me

I was assuming I could just pull a fuse and that would do it...is it not that simple? |
RE: Switching out rear suspension on '00 Disco ii
you really should turn the air suspension off from the computer...
