Default Temp sensor question

So my radiator was liberated last week while I was working on the truck. I've obtained a replacement, and scrounged up new plastic brackets at the pull 'n pay. What I didn't think to order yet was the SAI coolant temperature sensor. All the local parts stores have to order it, so I'm looking at a handful of days to get one.

But there's an '04 at the salvage yard with the engine still more or less intact. No radiator, however it looks like the sensor on the intake manifold is the same part. Can anyone conform or deny? Edit: Nope. Not the same! Keyway for the electrical socket is offset on the block sensor and centered on the radiator sensor.

Thanks as always!

Ugh, yeah. During the tear-down phase of this camshaft bearing business, I left it draining into a bucket in the alley behind my garage. Went in to scrub up and have a snack. Totally forgot it was leaned up against the garage back there. Alley rules state: if it's back there, it's fair game. Now I give every metal scrapper that trolls my alley the one finger salute as they idle through hoping the same one that got my rad comes by and gets the message. ...not that they care.

Oh, and I guess I'll be the guinea pig and take a stab at an engine temp sensor in the SAI port on the radiator. If it doesn't work, it will be worth the try.

My hope is that they need the $3 at least as much as I can use the 200. :/

so you don't feel alone........................among other things, i am a contractor. a couple of years ago, i was doing a bid at a property. huge, historic, 2 story pier and beam, so i had to take a 40' extension ladder to get on the roof. someone stole my ladder while i was up there. no neighbors in shouting distance and my phone was in the truck......uhg
