Testing the HDC
I'm not sure if the HDC has ever been used on my DII, and I'd like to see how it functions. I've read the owners handbook on the operation of it, but I'm curious how steep of a hill is needed? Really, my main concern is actually using it. I've read that long term non-use can be a factor in getting the 3 amigos. Are there any issues that might show up after this long of non-use?

RE: Testing the HDC
That information is wrong, HDC does not act up from lack of use.
Find a sttep enough hill that would normally require heavy braking, put your t/case in low range and depending on which drive gear the tranny is in will determine how much it will slow you down. They work really well in deep mud or snow when going down hill. |
RE: Testing the HDC
I was gonna ask how good does the HDC works in snow. I had a hill the other day that had maybe 1/2 inch of snow and it was really scary. I crept down the hill ever so slowly trying not to hit something. What would be the proper way to use the controls and what technic do you use?

RE: Testing the HDC
Put your t-case in low gear, switch to "M" mode (preference but I like it), turn on your HDC and let the system do the work and hold you back. Don't use your brakes, let the system do the work. Use the manual shift to increase or decrease your speed.
