Are these shocks garbage?
I ordered OEM shocks from Lucky8 and received these... are these OEM? I hear so much bad about Britpart. Should I return? I’m just looking for good original-type shocks.

You need "Genuine" if you want the LR Shocks. Go on Rockauto, and you will find lots of options to compare. They should have a few options, and price points for you to compare.
I likely would not install Britpart Shocks, but I don't have specific experience with their shocks. |

Shocks take like 20 minutes a pair to install... Why not try them and see?
Equally important, how are your springs? If original it won't matter what shocks you use, you'll destroy the shocks soon anyway running them on clapped out springs... Done that. Oddly I found the cheapest of the popular shocks to be best in my situation, which were the TF's... Tried OME and Bilstein, the Terrafirma's offer a smoother ride on my OME MD springs. Nothing to lose but an hour of your time. |
bought a set of standard sized KYB shocks from rock auto last week...will see how they are...

@Dave03S I have brand new springs going on as part of this project. They were AllMakes brand, which is way better than BritPart in my experience.

OK, I just have to rant about Lucky8... again. I think this is the last time I’m ordering from them. I had the issue a month ago where they shipped all my ball joints loose in an envelope. That was a bit of a bummer considering they were the most expensive ones they sold. And now this issue with the shocks...
I ordered these the first week of June, were told they were on backorder, and then never updated until I emailed them last week. After I emailed them and they figured out what the status of the order was, the shocks were at my doorstep within a few days. Meanwhile, the Disco has been on jack stands the entire time waiting. So now they’re finally here, but they’re BP instead of AllMakes, which is what their website showed I’d be receiving. Or at least what any reasonable customer based on this image would assume. So now I have to return them and order replacements, which all told will mean another couple weeks without a drive-able Disco, bringing the total jack stand time to two months all because of a mismanaged order from Lucky8. Lucky8 is such a struggle to leave, but also so ultimately frustrating. They have great prices, which keeps luring me back, but the website is still garbage and it’s clearly inaccurate in terms of which brand one buys vs which brand they’ll be receiving; they’re super bad at shipping/handling in the packaging sense, but when they do ship, it’s fast; the parts they sell are faulty more than they aren’t (in my experience, especially with a recent coolant tank cap episode), but they’ve had good replacement correspondence and keep sending parts out until they work. It’s always toeing the fine line of not being worth the headache despite the other good attributes they exude. Anyway, overall, my experience with them has been a net loss, especially after this recent shock issue. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/landrov...8ac81a0da7.png |
Just buy the Terrafirma shocks, they look to be about the same price... You won't regret.

Terrafimat makes a stock length shock.
The L8 website is rough to use. They have historically been one ofy go-tos for parts because they're easy to deal with, but I've never used the site. I always call. Things seem to get handled well that way. All makes is no different than britpart. Both are just companies that re-brand parts from other companies. Typically the lowest bidder. That's why parts from both are hit or miss. Different parts come from different manufacturers. |
