Throttle Body Gasket - Help
Good Evening !
I havea 99 Disco II with about 81,000 Miles
For about 3 months, I have been topping off my coolant tank every couple weeks...a quart or soeach time. The last 4 weeks, I have topped it off weekly. No Problems driving. Today, It starts to heat up while I drive, I pull over (knowing that I just topped it off yesterday) and find steaming coolant all over the engine. Topped it off...drove home, where I found coolant basically running off the engine onto the ground.
Did what i could to wip everything off and after some inspection with the engine running, I find the point where coolant is squirting -and man...it is REALLY squirting - small square on the underside of the air intake manifold (Bosch style ) with two hoses attached -a part that I believe to be the throttle body...small square, two black small hoses, and three screws on the underside in a triangular formation.
I have seen much dicussion of this gasket on this forum, is this difficult to replace? Glad to read that the kit is relatively inexpensive..but how much labor is the LR dealer going to charge me? If its a $50 - $100 fix, i dont mind paying for professional installation..but it doesnt seem to be that difficult...better off doing it myself?
Anyone in Tampa...just moved here do you reccomend Reeves or Dimitt dealerships?
Thanks!
