Throttle body heater plate... Clean it or replace?

I noticed I have a bit of leakage starting under the throttle body where the heater plate attaches. I saw Josh's tutorial for replacing it:
TB Heater Repair - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.

Haven't disassembled mine to look inside but wouldn't it just be ok to clean it and install it with a new gasket?

Replace it, it's only $35 for a Genuine kit and comes with the new plate, gasket, and bolts.

Better yet, you live in Hell, Texas, where it is very warm so do as I did and by passit, hooking the 2 hoses together with a piece of copper pipe.
That kit from Rover has been superceeded 3 or 4 times and still leaks with in a short time.

Great idea, Mike. We rarely even get winter temps much below freezing! As for Texas being like Hell, you must have met my first wife who left the state right after the divorce!

"by pass it, hooking the 2 hoses together with a piece of copper pipe."

Exactly, it was designed for use under cold climate conditions, so if you don't live in Alaska, Canada, Montana, etc., it is not needed at all, so rid yourself of one more possibility for leakage, and by pass it.

I would think the high humidity in Houston might make it a good idea to leave this part installed.

I have one for sale cheap. It's the full kit, but it isn't OE, it's aftermarket from Atlantic British.

I bypassed on my 99 over 2 years ago. No trouble so far just one less leaking part on it.
