torque converter bolts won't budge

Hi All, I found a good used engine in a Disco II that I have to pull myself. Im down to separating the 4 bolts through the peep holes next to the oil pan. These bolts (none of the 4) will break free. Im pretty sure they are NOT reverse threaded and Im guessing they have loctite on them. Im going to heat them with a torch this morning to see if I can break them free. Am I missing anything here? Seems that they shouldn't be this hard to remove.

You are not missing anything. They will come off with a heavy duty impact gun, or put a leverage bar on the handle of your socket wrench.

You should be using a 1/2" drive set for some of the heavy duty work.

Use a 1/2" 6 point impact socket and a breaker bar or impact wrench. The are very tight and also they use threadlock to avoid them undoing.

ok got them off and all 12… plus 2 bell housing bolts… What fun. thanks for the help fellas. the torch helped a ton. I got scolded for having it in the wrecking yard but it worked along with the breaker bar and some grunting and moaning.
the top two bolts were not bad after removing the motor mounts and lowering the engine… the two out side of those were not nice at all! tinny little turns with wrench for what seemed like hours contouring in awkward positions in the hot sun. but the donor engine is home and now I get to pull the bad one. I have gained much knowledge. 2nd one should be easier.
