RE: transfer case solenoid

Tough to get to it. Is the gear box in netural ? try it while rolling slow (under 5mph). the leaver might be seized in the housing .
what ever you do with the solenoid or theshift leveryou will be removing the console and a riveted access plate to get to it.

Yes I've tried it every way imaginable. I believe the solenoid is either seized or doesnt have power from the relay or something else? My thought is to remove it, its not needed really its just for safety but I dont think i'll try to shift to low while driving! I just thought it would be easier than dropping the t-case!! I've got it stripped down to the riveted plate but dont know if its worth continuing, if its under there it would be, but is it there???

Justin,
Do you have a D1 or D2?

RE: transfer case solenoid

Yes , important question D1 or DII , one dosent have the solenoid, but either way your right there, drill the rivits and go in man ! [>:]
If the shifter is frozen you need to access it.( D1) If the solinoid is dead you need to test for power signal ( DII )

Yup he was right. You dont have to drop the transfer case or take out the console. Didn't take him long at all. If you're near Chattanooga, TN and need work go to Outback Off-road center!!!
