There isn't one. The check/fill is on the trans pan underneath. 8 mm hex for fill, 5 mm for drain. Make sure to open the fill b/f the drain (if ur going to change the fluid). Once the fill is open, it's supposed to be filled until a 2mm stream comes out of the fill hole, just fill until you get a bit coming back out. Fill, cap it, get in and start truck and shift through gears, get back underneath with truck running and check the fill again. Get yourself a pump thingy from the parts store that will screw onto the ATF bottle, make sure to check for same neck sizes b/t pump thingy and ATF bottle- not all are the same. Also, check the search feature, there's a bunch of better write-ups on this.

This got me thinking..
Get a dip stick off of a discovery 2.
Drill a hole in the transmission and slip in the dip stick.
Ha.
The hole would need to be smooth and have a larger area at the top for the O ring.
Not worth the trouble.
No, no, there is not a dip stick.
You need to crawl under there with the engine running and the cats all heated up and take your chances.
creepy really.

Where is it at how do u check the trans fluid.
Now that would be a real luxury on a D2.
LR assume if you can afford their trucks you would take it to a main stealership for a service and just pay, pay, pay. Even my ancient Pajero has an autobox dipstick, as does the D1 I believe. Unfortunately the only way on a D2 is checking the oil level at the filler/level plug hole.

The DI pan fits to the bottom of the DII transmission and has a port for the dipstick on the front right side. The dipstick travels in front of the bulkhead to the right of the back of the motor. In fact, you use one of the bellhousing bolts to secure the dipstick in place.
Like I said above, if you're going to change the filter you need to remove the DII pan anyway. When reassembling, use the DI pan, hook up the dipstick, use the bellhousing bolt to secure it and you're all set.
