P0734 tends to be related to the MAF sensor, which it appears you have another code for. Replace that and see if it goes away. The other one does sound like a torque converter. I hope the shop you took it to has a warranty, because you're probably going to need it.

 

So I got home at lunch and started the truck.

as I shifted through the gears it seemed to do absolutely nothing.

Tomorrow I’m going to pull off a trans fluid line to the cooler and check pump flow.


can I check pressure there? If that like has line pressure what should it be?

Next is can an electronic failure like a trans computer cause this?

i am reluctant to think it’s an internal trans issue other than the potential sudden pump failure. I am thinking this because of the sudden problem, and the fact that it’s in all gears and reverse.

next question is if it is a pump failure, have anyone replaced the pump?

 

You can check pressure on the ports, I don't have the readings handy but I did find them online, the trans is common to BMW and Jaguar models. An electronic failure might do this, but those are very rare. If you search on the 4hp22 and 24, pump failures and front clutches failures are common. I recently rebuilt a 22 and it was not very difficult, front clutches were the only thing bad.

fabricating a fitting for a pressure gauge today to check pump pressure.

 

Here's the latest.....

So today I checked the pump pressure.
I got 150 psinon the high pressure test port.

Made sure trans was full.

No movement in any gear.

Got the new trans computer and installed it...

It would then move... Reverse and all gears seemed to work.
.drove around the block.

Felt like it was slipping a little Soni didba stall test and rpm's climbed to over 3k...

M and a light began to flash..

Then back to not moving...

 

Well, good news is it sounds like your pump is ok.
