Two sets of tires or one?
Hey guys,
My 285/65R18 Nitto Grappler's are getting pretty worn out. They are nearly worthless on ice and snow. I'm have a set of 18" rims and 16" rims, and am trying to decide if I should buy snow tires and summer tires, or one year round set. My truck does have a 2" lift so I'm pretty open on size. I'd like a setup that gives me crazy good snow and ice traction in the winter, and is good in mud and on rocks in the summer. I'd love to hear your ideas for two sets, or for a tire you think I could run year round. Thanks! ~Max |
I have 18 inch rims I keep around for summer traveling. Stock tires size. A bit better on the gas milage. It is always good to have both in my opinion.

If you can afford it, I would get dedicated snow and summer tires.
Otherwise run good AT tires on the 16 and dump the 18s. Get the Duratracs. How many miles did the nittos last and how did they perform? |
Put snows on the 18"s and Cooper Discoverer S/T's or Hankook DynaPro ATM RF-10's or Goodyear Duratrac's on the 16"s.

Any recommendations on the snows?
What's the lifespan like on the DuraTracks? |
