Ughh... Epic Random Multi Misfire Problem
So as of yesterday my truck has suddenly decided it wants to take up a new hobby of trying to commit suicide by choking itself to death.
Without any early signs of anything it's suddenly been getting a random multiple misfire with the SES light flashing, running rough as hell, and all that good stuff. However if you can manage to get up to speed and drive it for a minute, it's perfectly fine. No more blinking SES light or rough running. Only seems to do it for a short period of time after it's started, and much worse when put in gear and trying to move. Plugs are new, wires I'm not sure are how old but they do not appear extremely old, they're not cracked, cut, etc... either. Off the top of my head the only codes I know I'm throwing are P1300, the random multiple misfire code as well, and the individual codes showing which cylinders are misfirering. I also have a dead o2 sensor that has been that way for a while. I've also had the Snap-On diagnostic scanner on it a few times but I'm not seeing anything out of the usual while reading live data. |
With all that great stuff in your signature your missing the three most important items, Year, Model and Mileage! :)

Order some magnecors 8mm from Apex Performance for $85. Chances are this will solve your problem. Some people say Kingsborne wires are good too but most people here swear by Magnacors.

I'm just looking into what else could be causing this incase changing the wires doesn't fix it. |
I am betting on plug wires.
You will also need to fix that dead O2. You will be running to rich on that bank of the engine and will kill your cats as well as your exhaust valves. |
