Vibration while accelerating??
Hey guys, my rover was parked in my garage today and when I was reversing, I noticed that it was vibrating slowly but hard. I quickly parked it back into the garage hoping not to damage anything on the rover. Can anyone chime in as to what the issue might be? I was out driving earlier in the day and had no problems. I heard it may be the driveshaft and looked into prices and they were going for around $900 locally. My rover has roughly 148 xxx kms or 92 500 miles. It's a 2001 Rover with a 4.0L Engine. Any input would be much appreciated!

probably drive shaft or dampner to the rear axel. they tend to go bad. you can have your drive shaft rebuilt probably cheaper

so, had you allowed the truck to warm up a bit before you put her into reverse? or was this a start and go? If you do not let your truck come up to temp even a little the transmission wil not have built up enough pressure to give your reverse all it needs. As for the drive shafts... if you have not had your front shaft rebuilt you should do so. And the Roto-flex. could stand to be replaced as well just because. good call on shutting her down and trying to diagnose.
Also you should call great basin rovers or Tome woods for a new front shaft. it should not ne more than 400 USD and with the downgrade your loonies and toonies should be worth more to help offset the shipping. |
Never mind, my girlfriend told me it was outside of the garage, not inside. (She was the one driving). She left it outside and when it started raining, she wanted to quickly put it inside the garage and noticed significant vibrations while accelerating very slowly. I just went to the garage to start it and I did notice the odd vibrations from the engine while idle, not significant though. Service engine light is on. Let it warm up and drove 20km and seemed to be fine. I haven't had an oil change for a while. I use mobil1 full synthetic and i usually change it every 3000miles/5000kms but i've gone over around 2500km. Perhaps I have an oil leaking issue? On another note, a bulb from the taillight just died and by indicators aren't working at the moment. (2 front headlight)
