washing the truck engine light CODE RESULTS
I just washed the truck and the engine compartment, after driving off the car wash, the truck start to run a little rough then normal, then a little rough again at slow speed then normal again, also the Service engine soon light flashed 3 times then went on steady then a few minutes later flashes again 3 times and steady again...
is it just something that got wet and will go away as it dry or I'm out of luck ? |
RE: after washing the truck engine light
Is it driving better now after it has had a chance to dry out?
If it is doing better, the light may reset it self, if not, go by your local auto parts store and have them read your codes for free, then get back to us with your 4 digit fault code numbers. By the way, do you still have your original plug wires, if so, that may be the problem cause for the most parts D2's take water real well. |
RE: after washing the truck engine light
If your truck is running normally again and your Service Engine Light is STEADY (not Flashing) I would continue to drive it for a couple days and wait for the light to go out by itself. It seems obvious by gettingsomething wet you probably had a temporary issue and threw a code. If it doesn't go off by itself you'll have to get your SES light turned off by someone with a code reader after you see what code(s) you have/had. Contrary to what some will tell you, your SES lightmay reset on its own if the problem resolves itself. Good luck.

ok, I'm gonna wait a little for it to dry then I'll drive it and see.

RE: after washing the truck engine light
as far as the plug, I have no clue as I bought the truck used 18 months ago..

RE: after washing the truck engine light
I have heard of this happening when people steam clean the engine. For the most part the light just went out after a few miles of driving. There could be something knocked loose if you used a pressure washer, but I doubt it. Like mike said, give it time to fully dry out and if it doesnt go off by then, go get the codes.

RE: after washing the truck engine light
Power scrubbing and steam cleaning are 2 different things, D2, normally take a power scrub well, I do mine at least once a month or after a hard run. Steam cleaning can cause wire connection issues.
Go get you codes read, if the ECU locked a hard fault it won't go away by it self. Get back to us with the fault number. |
RE: after washing the truck engine light
ok I bought a scaner and here are the results:
P1300 Catalysr damaging misfire multiple cylinders drive cycle C: signal out of range -Above maximum P1590 Rough road signal implausible drive cycle A: signal implausible P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire detected P0305 Cylinder 5 misfire detected P0307 cylinder 7 misfire detected P0300 random misfire detected P0134 02 circuit no activity detected (bank 1, sensor 1) it's rough/vibrating at idle speed only. then after I drive a litle it doesn't do it.. |
RE: after washing the truck engine light
You need plugs and wires. These guys recommend Magnacor wires and Bosch Platinum plugs, Iuse either Denso or NGK Iridium plugs.
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/ http://www.boschautoparts.com/Produc...lugs/Platinum4 You most likely got water inside one or more of your spark plug wire boots where it connects to the spark plug. |

You might want to give me a call, your truck has issues that can't have all come from washing the engine.
