Way to put Disco in Neutral with battery disconnected?

Be gentle on me guys - I'm fairly new at this. Wondering if there is any way to put the Disco in neutral with the battery disconnected? My poor girl is torn apart, sitting out in the rain and I want to push her into the garage for shelter. Any easy way besides reconnecting the battery? Thanks..

Remove the shift knob (pull straight up, hard. Try not to punch yourself in the face...), and then the shift surround (again, straight up, working at the corners). Once it's off, you'll see the interlock solenoid, just find something to depress the plunger, and move the lever from park to N.

If you could get to the wire, you could put 12V into the solenoid and cause it to pull in and then just shift it.

You would need to unhook it first from the control logic.

Thanks for the ideas - and I'll try hard not to punch myself in the face - haha..

You laugh now!

I'm just glad I was the only one around to bask in the shame of my ineptitude. :(

Good idea on T/C to neutral.

You guys could wiggle the discovery by pushing it back and forward to take the tension off of the T/C gears to get it into T/C neutral.

Great call drowsap!

Wouldn't you be in the same boat of having to bypass the shift interlock on the T/C?

You can also easily disconnect the shift cable at the transmission (right under the driver seat, under the car) and move it into neutral by hand.

Just a C clip that holds the shifter cable in place.

Ran into the same problem once before on my D1... at a gas station with a boat in tow...of course...at the time i didnt know what to do and had to have a friend pick-up the boat and D1 dragged it onto the tow truck...shifter guts were all rusted from the sunroof leak...

I don't think the T/C has a shift lock.
It SHOULD to prevent theft.
I have never tried to shift mine with the engine off.
