Default Weird Problem for my disco

I have a 2001 Disco II with 85K on her. No problems at all but the other day I went to start her and she would turn over but not start up. I had her towed to my local mechanic who stated that the code came back (and I apologize that I do not remember exactly what the code was) as an issue with the anti theft and that she just shut down. We checked and the fuel pump was good. My mechanic reset it and told me that one way was to insert the key and turn it left 5 times, wait 12 secs and do it gin 2 more times to reset it. I picked up the car and drove it to work but on the way home she stalled and I pulled over. I waited about 30 minutes and she started back up. I drove it about 4 more miles and it stalled again. I left her in a secured lot for now. What are the chances that this is a bad crank position sensor? If so, are these expensive? Can I get them at the local AutoZone or do I have to get ripped at the local LR dealer?

thanks

Thats what it sounds like, a bad crank sensor. Easy fix and got it at Autozone for $67. I actually cut a flap in my fender well to gain real easy access to replace the sensor. It has a cover with two nuts on it. Its on eht edriver side right next to the header.
