Went mudding, i now have some new issues with my Discovery II
Hello,
I went Mudding in my 2003 Discovery II, after some fun in the mud i got stuck. I was actually stuck in the mud for a couple of hours. My Traction Control did not work great so i was stuck just spinning one tire. if you need to know how deep i was i can post a picture of how deep it was. But on to the main part. After getting my car out i had this weird sound and vibratiion on my front left area, it sounded like it was the front left tires traction control trying to turn on but it sounded more mechanical. After driving it for a few days later it still made this sound. After listening more intently it sounded like my transmission was having a hard time shift (It mainly happens when i turn or accelerate, it will even sometimes shake just a tiny but while i am just idling at a red light). Also when i go on the freeway at around 70MPH+ my car also starts vibrating kinda violently. I would love to know what you guys think of what my problem is and any tips you guys might have. i would greatly appreciate your feedback!! |
minus the idle situation, i would think cv....but at idle shake..????? maybe 2 separate issues?

2 things
1. Yes of course we need to see the photo of how deep you were....for science 2. What happens when you drive in a tight "S" turn, lock to lock? |

(This is the picture) it was not as bad as the other side but that rear left tire was spinning the whole time so i could not get any traction. And as for the S turn i have only done it once and i didn't hear or feel anything but i go on that S turn Daily so tomorrow i will listen and feel for something. I should have been more specific but this noise and vibration happens at random but it happens mostly while turning. Also idling at a light it feels like the engine is idling roughly. |
I can't view the picture. I can not give my professional scientific opinion without the photo for research.

Lol... you have to download the photo and upload it to an image hosting site, unless you want to give us all your Gmail password :)

Or just upload it here. For science.
If it makes you feel better, here is my old D1 after it got stuck in the mud (driven by friend, the previous owner when it was his, of course) Attachment 20135 Of course once it became mine, I didn't even need mud to get it stuck: Attachment 20136 Attachment 20137 |
i can tell you i have been disappointed in my d2 i have been stuck a lot of places
my f 250 walked right through (with the exact same kind and size tires) so i no longer beleive all the hype on how great theis are off road but could the vibration just be mud stuck on the rim making wheel ballance off . good luck i hope you get it back right again soon and cheep |
hk9176251 beat me too it.
As far as the shaking you may have mud caked inside the inner rim throughing it out of balance. Clean out the mud and it wil restore proper balance. |
Was there water with this mud? It's possible you dirty'd up your air filter and MAF causing a rough idle condition.
