wet radio

so i cracked my sunroof last night and forgot to close--naturally Mr Murphy was close by, so front dash was wet from tsunami in "sunny" FLA--wiped it all down and pulled out of the driveway only to have the radio on a crappy AM sports station complaining about the lack of $ the ownership pay the RAYS or Bucs...blah, blah, blah... so as i tried to turn the station button-NOTHING- next button same...could not turn stations nor turn volume down or even turn radio OFF. My questionis this: are the chances good that if the radio dries out well enough, will i get control back OR do i need to replace entire unit..thanks pals

IMHO you have a better than 50% chance of it returning to normal after baking in the car. Next play will be dismantler / member parting out, or a sunny salvage yard.

Same thing happened to my radio....no lie it took a few months to dry out, even in the summer now it works like nothing ever happened. I got intermittent control every once in a while with only say the steering controls working or a handful of buttons and it would resume it's busted state once I turned the truck off.on. It always switched back to country when I left it on FM but if I had switched it to CD it would stay there play normally (still no control) Just saying you could be looking at a large wait, good luck.

Thanks all- I pulled the radio out using tips found here on the msg boards (file hangers worked like a charm!) Got it sitting out in the sun now-- I'll let you know the results later.

buy a big ass bag of rice (no jokes) that is what they tell you to do with cell phones and other electronic that get wet. the rice will absorb the moisture, they say.

Southern gals have been putting rice in salt shakers to make it pour for untold generations.
