After many months of no codes, my CEL lights up and 6 codes show up. I had installed all new O2 sensors, and all codes had to do with Bank 2. Engine running rough and black smoke out the exhaust. Checked the sensors and found upstream on bank 2 had come loose and was jiggling around. Tightened it, cleared codes and they came back within a few minutes. Pulled the sensor, it was completely coated in a thick layer of carbon. Wire brushed the sensor and cleaned the grooves, blew it out real good.
Reinstalled and drove around for an hour, no codes or black smoke. Lesson learned, make sure they are good and tight.

Well that is most handsome. Could I possibly ask how much?

I'm feeling close to slipping and banging my head also.

This weekend we took the rover up to IKEA and bought a kitchen. All of our kitchen cabinets fit in the back with the seats down - 1100 pounds about maxed out the gvw but it did fine.

Also changed the oil last week and used the giant filter recommended somewhere around here. Cleanest oil I've ever seen in a car after the oil change.

Tonight I picked up some bolts and attached the coil packs where they belong. They were floating around when I bought it. I need small victories until I can spend some more time and money to track down my misfires.

I got it off Craigslist in Phoenix. Paid 400. You dont even want to know what i paid to ship it. Still cheaper than a new one. I had to strip/sand and repaint it. It looked like this before. It was white gold. The chrome had to go. I want to upgrade the mounting hardware. It seems not so good for a recovery point. My winch is waiting for me to change to synthetic rope and mount it up.

Wow! Nice start for sure. Be sure to look at the sticky for 60k maintenance. You have to cover the basics like prop shaft, 180 t-stat, Rotella oil, extra capacity filter, etc.

I did the 180 t stat already as well as change both idler pulleys, alternator, serpentine belt and radiator hoses. One hose blew so I replaced all of them. Rotella oil? I've always used valvoline syn blend. Is Rotella recommend? Thanks

I don't know why but the Rotella dino version is popular here. I suspect b/c it may not leak as much as synthetic since the molecules are bigger.. I've been using Mobile 1 and have seepage even after replacing gaskets and seals. I plan to try the Rotella next change..

The Rotella 15-w40 is popular due to the high ZDDP levels which is common to oils made for diesel engines. Though we dont have diesels, we do have old school flat tappet engines which require the additives to prevent wear.

As an added bonus Rotella is engineered to hold particulates in suspension so that they come out of your engine when you change the oil.

So the additives clean the insides of your engine, while the oil transports said grime out when you change.

Win / Win
