I plan to get up early to install the water pump.
Still need to get my tool kit installed for future road trips. Sounds like you have all under control.

It's true, I do carry enough tools to basically rebuild the entire truck. It all fits in one tool bag, though it weighs 50 lbs. This trip I forgot floor jack and jack stands, but typically I bring them also.

It's the cost of doing business when you drive a 15 year old truck.

I was right, the impeller had popped off.

Today I put the new water pump on, bled the hell out of it, still had a pocket of air I managed to bleed using jfall's technique. Then I drove about 300 miles, and the truck purred the whole way.

Now I'm trying to finish off that bottle of Guatemalan Rum.

I believe its main purpose is a fire retardant (the plastic tabs melt and the liner blankets your engine), since our hoods are aluminum they wont hold up as long as a metal hood would during an engine fire. Plus the help engine noise control, and to help the rover warm up quicker. I took it out to facilitate louver installation in the future.

Some jerk, changed lanes in front of the car in front of me and stopped suddenly, needless to say we had a 3 car pile up. He got out looked at his plastic bumper and took off, The car in front of me had a scratch on her bumper from my bumper and filed a claim. My already cracked bumper cover just broke up. No big deal, been needing a reason to get a new one.

But, this post is about something else. I heard a rattling noise at idle,(a noise I have heard off and on for a couple of months), so I got under the vehicle to see what was going on. My drivers side cat was banging against the frame. Upon close inspection of the motor mounts, the front were fine, but the back 2 were both gone and the transfer case looked to be sitting on the crossbar. Ordered both sides and should be here thursday. Got them from Amazon, and they are Allmakes. From the looks of them, they have been shot for a while and the sudden jolt must have finished them off. Since it is my daily driver, I have been driving it very cautiously. I read on a post, they were the same as the front motor mounts, but there is a left and a right and are different part numbers from the front mounts.

It is 1am, raining like crazy in San Antonio, Texas and I just came back from a short trip to a friends house (about 50miles round trip). Everyone on the highway was going with 30-40mph, my barely alive disco didnt even feel unsafe at 60-65. 0 hydroplaning(or however that is called lol) and the tires arent even in the best shape. I was able to feel the lack of power around 65mph under really heavy rain but it was still extremely fun.

I'm about to rebuild the motor. Has anyone heard of putting a 4.6 cam into the 4.0? Never done a disco before I've always done Chevys and Fords. Any tips would be appreciative.

go ahead and put the 4.6 crank and rods also, you will have a 4.6 with a little higher compression.
will tillery(forum member) has the rotating assy from crate motor including cam for 500.00.
