What did you do with your DII today?

I’ve done a lot with my ‘99 disco...
Fellow Rovers,
it’s been almost a year since I’ve posted. I got back home and walked into my garage thinking “I have no idea where I left off” over the past 2 weeks I made my ‘99’s short engine to a 4.6 (I’ll post a conversion thread sometime with a lot of photos)
Now for today... I installed my front cover and water pump onto my short block. I put my new harmonic balancer ($500 :’( ) on and I’m trying to figure out how to torque that down to specs.
I then installed my headers/exhaust manifold assembly onto my short block. I placed my new lifters and pushrods in followed by the rockers and got the valley gasket on. Topping it off I placed the valve (rocker) covers on and I left off searching all over my garage for my injector clasps and the dowel for the driver side rocker cover. It was an eventful long weekend.

Dirty and a little rust, but they should clean up nicely. They were held on with only three "bolts" right in the middle of each side. Screwdriver type heads and way too small for the application. It's a wonder they didn't just fall off the donor truck on a highway somewhere and kill somebody!

Oxygen Sensor Fault Hunt
Today I spent tracking down why my downstream O2 Sensor heaters weren’t working on Bank 1 and 2. They were new yesterday, but still threw a code. So, I discovered they are wired in series, and if one is cut or shorted, neither will work. The culprit was a hungry packrat who gnawed on the “blue wire” on top of the transmission. So when those two downstream stop heating, you now know where to look. Codes gone, life is good!

My daughter stuck her new Jeep 4x4 in the mud while off-roading today so I towed her out with my Disco on my old, no-tread tires.
My new mud tires won't arrive until Thursday. Would have felt more confident going deep in the mud to get her if I had new mud tires instead of the old, no-tread street tires, but it all worked out.

Just $121 at Walmart for these Achilles Desert Hawks.
